Massing
models are used extensively for basic study of massing, scale and fenestration
of a home design.
The home is placed on a representation of the topography of the lot for
a better understanding of how
the home will interact with the land. Many Architectural Review Committees
or Design Review Boards
require this type of model during their review process to enable better
viewing of the home and the
use of the land. Independent homeowners also elect to commission this
sort of model when they find
that simply reviewing construction drawings doesn’t provide them
with a realistic view of the home.
